Tooth Whitening
Nothing says "healthy" like a bright, attractive smile. For many people, getting a brilliant smile can be as simple as finding the perfect whitening treatment. Discoloration and yellowing of the teeth often result from caffeine, nicotine, red wine, failure to brush and floss, genetics, tooth decay, and injury. At the Fine Art of Dentistry, we've mastered the art of delicate and gentle, yet effective tooth whitening to give our patients a stunning reason to smile!
In-Office Tooth Whitening
Turn your smile from dull to dazzling in just one appointment! Tooth whitening is one of the simplest ways to make a smile more youthful and attractive. Our in-office tooth whitening lightens natural teeth quickly and comfortably in just one office visit. We do all the work for you and this safe, quick and effective treatment eliminates the need for days or weeks of messy trays. The rewards will last for years. As always, warm wax treatments for your hands, stereo headphones, and heated lavender-scented neck pillows are all available to make your treatment an enjoyable one.
Home Whitening
home whitening is a popular, safe and conservative method of brightening existing teeth. Special whitening gel is applied directly to the tooth or teeth to enhance your smile. A number of products such as "Zoom" or "NiteWhite" can be used. We will evaluate the level of whitening that is appropriate for your individual smile.
What Whitening Can't Do
Professional tooth whitening will not correct discoloration due to decay. Decaying teeth should be corrected for function first, and then may respond to whitening treatment. Teeth should be repaired before whitening is performed. Teeth with dark spots from old amalgam fillings will also not respond to whitening. Patients may choose to replace old metal fillings with porcelain for better results.
Whitening may tone down the appearance of fluorosis, a mottled whitening of the teeth caused by overexposure to fluoride, but it will not generally reverse this discoloration. Also, whitening is only partially effective in reducing tetracycline stains. Severe discolouration may respond better to treatment with porcelain veneers.
